Holiday Club
We have a strong belief in that play is learning and so our holiday club sessions are centred around play. Play allows children to understand the world around them and helps children develop a range of skills such as creative thinking, problem solving, social skills, empathy, language and literacy development, physical development…. The list goes on!
Activities within our holiday clubs include den building, fire lighting and cooking over the fire, creative and craft activities, nature walks, yoga and mindfulness, building and constructing… We listen to the children and incorporate their ideas into the sessions, following a child-led approach while scaffolding their learning.
Our holiday clubs run through school holidays and are for children aged 5 to 8 years.
We run two holiday club session times, 9am – 4pm and 8am to 5.30pm. These are based at our Lynwood Gardens site.
We provide a morning and afternoon snack at holiday clubs, usually cooked on the fire by the children themselves, and ask that children bring a packed lunch and water bottle with them for the session.
As we do lots of messy and water-based activities it’s also useful for the children to bring a spare change of clothes… this allows children to get fully emerged in our activities and the opportunity to get super wet, messy and/or muddy if they so choose!
“Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in the child’s soul” Frederick Froebel
