Home Education
Older children are welcomed in to the Kindergarten which operates from 2 years of age. We strongly believe that there are great benefits from having mixed ages within our setting, actively encouraging the younger children to develop independence modelled by their older peers, whilst the older children nurture and learn first hand those skills and responsibilities such as the caring aspect of supporting our younger ones.
We have a strong belief in that play is learning. Play allows children to understand the world around them and helps children develop a range of skills such as creative thinking, problem solving, social skills, empathy, language and literacy development, physical development…. The list goes on!
We listen to the children and incorporate their ideas into the sessions, following a child-led approach whilst scaffolding their learning.
Our sessions run with our Kindergarten and are fully outdoors and facilitate play experiences that allow for deep nature connection.
We provide a snack during each session which will be cooked by the children on the fire. Offering the opportunities to build skills in building and maintaining fires as well as food preparation and learning about health and nutrition. Children are to bring a packed lunch which is eaten around the middle of the session.
We are opening up a limited number of daily spaces for home educated children which will be offered at our Whiteley Woods setting. These will run Tuesday – Thursday all year round.
